What a day! There’s no such thing as unlucky day as every day is made and given by the Lord. It’s a blessing. No matter how bad your day is, it’s still from the Lord. I feel like a total hypocrite saying this, typing this… I admit that sometimes I’d silently curse God and everyone and everything else when everything seems to go wrong. Thanks Pastor Steven for reminding me that every new day is from the Lord.

It was a Wednesday, like any Wednesday. Again, I was wondering if I should just skip CF and save those extra hours to study and do something more beneficial than just sitting or hanging around CF meetings. Congratulations, Satan aka Lucifer because you’ve just deceived me again. Sigh.

To go or not to go?

Go? Don’t go?

My mind was so puzzled. Heavenly realms were battling against each other to see who wins this lost soul. In the end, I made up my mind: I’m not going. Why? Simply because I’ve got no transport and I’d blame myself for having poor time management that I can’t afford some extra hours to join them for dinner ( which I would very much love to). Sigh.

To cut the long story short, I met H and thank God, he was able to fetch me back after CF meeting, without attending their dinner. Rachel was suggesting to me to ask H to fetch me back but I rejected her idea as H and I weren’t that close. While we were talking about that, suddenly we bumped into H! And I don’t know how the conversation went but all I knew was he offered to fetch me back. Is this God’s plan or what? Fantastic God we have here.

I’m glad I did go for it. It was good for my soul. I somehow got really busy these days and I lost focus on my track and ultimately, lost focus on God. Then, I begin to realise why everything went haywire. Thank God for Pastor Steven. Today, he shared the word titled, “If tomorrow never comes”. One thing for sure, death is not something far or virtual or surreal or fake. If we live each day of our lives with the realisation that we are just mere humans and that live is short, we would live a much better lives in the sense that we take each day as our last day on earth. Just as David said, “Lord, help me number my days”. Today’s message just spoke to me and I do believe that it’s God, calling out to me, reminding me, reaching out to me. I’ve really have forsaken him these days. Please, pray for me to set my life back straight parallel to God’s will. I just realised that I’ve been doing everything by myself and have nicely forgotten that I’ve got a father who’s watching and guarding me. Sigh, I feel so very ashamed of myself. Sigh.

Everything is vanity in life without God.

Uncertainty of life…..certainty of death.

Not by bread alone…

Posted in Christian, Thoughts on June 11, 2009 by limmy

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Matthew 4:4 (MKJV)

Men and women are created in God’s image. We are spiritual beings. As such, we need to know that people, whether regenerate or not, do not live on bread alone. Spiritual beings just do not survive solely on material substance. Children, youth and adults need spiritual nourishment to sustain our lives. Jesus never said we are not to live by bread at all; He said that we are not to live by bread alone. This means that material substances may be needful in our live, but these are not that which keep us going. What, then, keeps us going? What is the fuel of our lives? What makes us tick? In Jesus’ days, things were much simpler. Food, as basic and staple as bread was the fuel of life then. Today, food can still be the fuel of life for many people. But for some, it is no more the simple staple food… We are not satisfied if it is not designer bread and designer coffee… We live for the next fancy meal in the latest fancy food outlet. What about entertainment as the fuel of life; TV, music, movies, and internet? What about relationships: boyfriends, girlfriends, spouses, families and everybody else on FaceBook? What about career, studies, work – part-time, fulltime and overtime? How about more contemporary stuff that make us tick like the latest gadgets; iPods, MP3, HD flat screens complete with home theatre systems and blackberries. Oh, we must not forget the image things for us to look good and feel good: shoes, clothing, club memberships, wheels and accessories of all shapes and sizes! Jesus was in the desert when He spoke the words above. He had been fasting and was hungry at the end of 40 days. The tempter came at the right time and at the right place, suggesting that the Son of God satisfies His urgent bodily cravings by turning stones into bread. Even though we are spiritual beings, right here right now, earthly physical needs can be very real and very pressing and very attractive. And,  the devil will surely come to us suggesting that all that we need, or all that is important is everything, except the Word of God! Satan is skilled and crafty. He knows what is most enticing to each person. It is understandable when people who have not been regenerated by the Holy Spirit place wealth, education, entertainment and beauty above the Word of God. But the sad thing is that more Christians than not are setting God’s Word aside to pursue all kinds of things without which we think our lives would be doomed, meaningless and boring! Sigh! How we need God’s power to break this bondage… Men and women, boys and girls, young and old… may God’s Spirit convicts us to know that we do not live by bread alone. We are spiritual beings and thus we need the living Word of the living God so that we may truly live.

Thou Shall Not Steal.

Posted in Christian, Thoughts on May 24, 2009 by limmy

Today went to church’s night service. Pastor Caleb was preaching on the 8th commandment: Thou shall not steal. It did help me to understand and broaden my perspective about this law. The law is there to enable us to show our love to God.

What are some of the ways in which we might steal?

He actually listed many ways but I shall just mention what applies to me and most of us.

1)    Over claims

I do this sometime I think. I never knew it was wrong though. [ coz I was thinking if I could profit a little, why not?]  I sold my biology book as second hand for RM 80 even when I know the normal price for second hands was around RM70, depending on the condition of the book. Hmm. Anyone has any other examples of over claims?

2)    Buying pirated CDs, VCDs or DVDs

[I don’t buy, I download for free =p ] Well, most of us do it or at least it’s us, the Malaysians who are doing that – supporting piracy. Gosh, it came out for my English B test!!! What a coincidence?! I think God is trying to say something here. It’s wrong for us to download any files online illegally as it’s considered as stealing coz that file belongs to an owner – we took it without their permission – people distribute/share it without the owner’s permission and thus, their copyright were not protected. Anyway, it’s really hard to believe that people working in the media industry e.g. Artist, producers are only earning 5% (correct me if I’m wrong) of what they should earn. But I was just thinking, even with that 5% that they have, they’re already living the rich and famous lifestyle, aren’t they? Isn’t that more than enough? Wait, no, I shouldn’t be the one judging and questioning how much they gain. Just do it – since they deserved it and it would be only right to do so. Easy said than done~~~ T_T

3)    Plagiarism

Yes, we were well-taught by our lecturers that plagiarism is a no-no.  =) However, some of us might be plagiarizing without realizing; now is that excusable or what?

4)    Bribery

This comes in soo handy when the policeman catches you for beating the red light by 0.000000001 second. Would I rather pay RM300 or RM100 for that infinitesimal mistake?

5)    Gambling

To some, this is the highlight of the bloody red season. Probability in maths helped me understand my chance of winning – expectation won’t be a zero, that’s for sure. Thus, I ain’t chipping in =p Hmm, I actually did gamble before with friends but it was a small amount of money -> 10 cents. However, as the game goes, the money builds and yea, I don’t have to go into that – you know it. But I don’t know why I don’t find it addictive; it’s a good thing though. =) According to pastor, [I forgot what he said] I think he said that it’s wrong in the sense that, one does not work for the money. Whatever property that we obtain should be either from our work or as a gift from someone else. Since gambling does not fall into any of the two categories, it is then considered as wrong. This is my opinion on gambling: The desire of one when gambling determines whether gambling is right or wrong. I think it is okay to gamble for fun and see how people actually react when a yummy prize is up for grab. =p To gamble because one’s lust for money is wrong as it will cause one’s spiritual life to deteriorate. Hmm, I think last time in church Aunty Gueh Im did teach us to ask ourselves the 5 question. I roughly remembered them; goes something like

-       Does it benefit our spiritual life?

-       Does it bring glory to God?

-       Does it encourage a brother/sister in Christ to grow stronger in God?

-       ????

-       T______________________T =_=ll forgot liao

Haha, it can be said as voluntarily stealing and voluntarily getting stolen by someone.

What does obeying this commandment involve?

1)    Repentance and restitution (Ex 22 and Lev 6)

2)    Honour the property and stewardship of others as well as taking our stewardship seriously

3)    Work and provide for ourselves and take responsibility (Eph 4:28

4)    Give to bless others

5)    Malachi 3:10

Backdated post.

Posted in Christian on March 26, 2009 by limmy

Pastor yesterday had really said something that touched my heart deeply. He was mentioning about a Malay pastor, whose life was changed by the Holy Spirit. He was the best Muslim one can ever have as he was well versed with the Quran and he followed every single rule strictly. He never once missed his prayer session but still, he felt emptiness in his heart. He didn’t feel God. And so, he begun searching for God in other religion and studied about them and practices them. He was reading the Old Testament online and later he read the New Testament where he was lead to Christianity. As he was reading the new testament, he suddenly felt touched and started crying. It was the work of the Holy Spirit in him.

He was a man who obeyed instructions. In that Christian American website, they said when you first become a Christian, tell your parents and so he did. Imagine the reaction he got when he told his parents that. They were against his will of becoming a Christian and they reckon that it’s their past sins which have brought them to this. They blamed themselves for not bringing up their kid well, but they actually did. In fact, he was the best Muslim in the whole family. Their parents brought the imam and the muslim religious teachers to come to make him change his mind. However, they failed.

He’s now a pastor. Imagine that! No one ever preached to him about the word of God or the good news. He just came to Christ like that. This makes me wonder, if I should sometimes keep my mouth shut and not look stupid when spreading God’s word. Why not just pray and let him do the job. He can do it much better than me anyway.

I write things out, for they make me understand things better. Pastor yesterday said that God must be real in our lives. Every day we’re living for him and that’s what makes our lives so meaningful. At least we have a direction in life. Why do we do the things we do? Is it just because everyone around us is doing so we follow? What happens after that?  What’s at the end of this whole life’s race?

Let out lives be a living testimony to others…always.

A few shout outs. I don’t know why I suddenly had the urge to do so. ^^

To Miss J,

You always bright up my day with your smile. As the saying goes, “A smile is the window to your soul. Without a soul, you’re dead.” You’re the only friend that laughs “jajajajaja” in MSN conversations. Haha, I somehow find it funny. Nobody laughs with their initial at the front. ^^ You’re always there for me when I’m down. Thank you for everything.

To Miss Triple L,

An interesting name you have there. If only you had an English name, that would make a quadruple L’s. You probably won’t be reading this, since you don’t have a blog or rather, not so much of a blog reader (I think so). But anyway, I’ll say this: You’re so funny! Haha, like seriously. I don’t know why. You don’t look funny, you don’t do funny acts but I just SOMEHOW God knows why, find you funny; which is a good thing, I guess. ^^

Miss R,

Row row row your boat; again, I think your name suits you a lot. I could always picture you with that cheerful face, shining ever so brightly till it blinds my eyes and penetrates my brain. [Okay, a bit of hyperbola here but it doesn't hurt to do so right?] =p Oh and I still have the high school picture of you with the balloon, smiling straight into the camera, with your nose ever so flat! HAHAHAHAHA, as if it’s pressing hard against the wall or glass or smth. That picture was just so…..EPIC! Nope, I haven’t deleted that picture and won’t ever delete that picture ever just because it’s the source of my happiness; a temporary one of course. It’s like every time I look at it, I start laughing so hardly, reminiscing the times we had back in school. You’re seriously a hardcore laughing machine; seriously. You always looked like you were gonna get some heart attack or worse, constipated – when you’re laughing so hard. XD ß The constipated laughing icon.

To Miss K,

I like to add a -my (pronounced as -mi ) in your name as it suits mine. Hehe, why why of course its kimmy and limmy. Di mana kimmy, di situlah limmy. xD Nah, just joking. But last semester we were hanging out most of the time coz we had common classes. ^^ You’re one of the most hardworking people I’ve ever seen in my life, besides Bee Shan, Theresia & Co. You really helped me out in my studies when I don’t understand them, especially chemistry; my weakest subject. You’re one brilliant + diligent = ideal student. ^^ You also always helped me think straight and helped me solve other problems. (Eg. I wanted to go for yakult trip but parents want me back home) I don’t know why I can’t sort of think rationally (like you) to solve everyday problems as such. For everything you’ve done, thank you.
